MadMan
He’s always chuckling inside my head
Trying to make me laugh like a lunatic when I lie awake in bed
He wants my eyes to widen with madness
He wants me to be a damp pile of sadness
I feel him pry my teeth apart and open my mouth
I feel him making me repel the others like magnets of the north and south
I feel him trying to make me look insane
I feel him wriggling about in my brain
He whispers nonsense things to me in the dark
He has left on me his big dark mark
He makes me shiver with strange words
He cackles and cheeps like a chorus of birds
He is trying to control me like a puppet master
Making me run in circles getting faster and faster
I am trying in vain to just be myself
But he is impossible like the devil himself
He is trying to make me conform to the world
He lays out a path for me, ready and unfurled
He wants me to see what I wish not to see
Who I don’t even know and who don’t know me
I don’t know how long I will be sane enough
To tell when he lies and when to call his bluff
