Star-Gazer
Once I wished upon a star,
 Sending longings from afar,
 I thought I was awe-inspired,
When I was consumed by worldly desire,
For I am bound to this Earth,
Unlike the stars in all their mirth,
 In my childish whims,
I realized how selfish I had been,
 To burden another lovely light,
With a darkness like the night,
I am no better than the dark vail,
That I use to shroud my self-deception,
And although I know my wish will fail,
I still swallow my envious affection,
For the star that shines above me unscathed,
While the light inside me slowly fades.
