Now, I don’t have much money
because I’m just a teenager,
but I can give you my hands.
You can hold them when
you need to warm your hands up.
You can use my hands
to break your fall
when your hands
become calloused
and bloody
from tripping far too much.

You can use my shoulder
if you need to cry into it
And you can shape the curve
of my neck so that it
fits your head perfectly.

You can use my skin
if yours isn’t doing
a very good job
of holding yourself together.

You can use my spine
to straighten yourself out
if yours is too sad
to stand up straight.

I don’t have much money,
but I can give you my attention.
I can give you my time.
I can give you my ears.
I promise to listen
and not just hear.

I promise you that my legs are strong.
I can carry you when you can’t walk anymore.

Sometimes the best presents
I can give you
are the things that can’t be bought.

I am happy that I can give you everything,
even if I don’t have enough money.

I can give you my loyalty.
This is friendship.
