The curved hem of our planet,
Resting regally in a black void-
This view never gets old
I think to myself
As I stare out my little triangular window

Far, far below swirling clouds glide heavily
Over the ground, masking glass oceans-
I look down upon Heaven
An odd thought, really
Anything to pass the time until the next maneuver

I always wanted to leave, to place my
Small step on the surface of the moon-
The Earth regards me resentfully
I apologize
The Earth shrinks slightly as our spacecraft drifts away

With the final frontier comes distance,
Naturally, I’ve run away from home-
I stare at that relentless orb
Sitting in the sky
I make a note or two in my journal

I see someone else floating above and looking down
Someone else- not me-
Crazily doubting the stars and the ship
Longing to go back
Easier said than done, I suppose
