"You must be the change you wish to see in the world"

I won't say a damn thing about loving you
I'd rather not lie
But I'm partial to telling you the truth
I push everyone away
Mostly because no one stays
I can't bare to say three words
Used too often, they only hurt
I remain a mystery
A heart can't break if it isn't there
And I'd rather live life without a care
Than face the man I see in the mirror
On bare skin, it couldn't get any clearer
And when it's taken, it doesn't matter
They cover you in dirt
Leave you there shattered
So you become the life of the party
Until eventually that's all that matters
A buzz or a high to take you away for a night
One day you wake up from what they call poison
But you cry because they don't know that you prayed to God you wouldn't
They say you'll always be like this
That your mind's not wired for you to be the way they desire
They call it an appetite for your own destruction
But what they don't understand is, it was never you, it was them
That you spend every waking moment thinking about what you could've done different
When everything got twisted
They shove pills down your throat
And eventually you figure out it was them that were f***** up
So don't think I'm broken
Or that you forever changed me
That I'll never be the same
Please, I was lost long before you left me with only a trace of your skin
Only to remind me of the pain I was in
And if the doctors are right, I'll be lost long after you become a faded memory of what was or what can't be or what might have been
