“He's more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.” - Emily Brontë

There was a deep sort of wind
and I got used to it quickly
because it was always there

I had hoped for
some place like this
A place to be free

There was peace
and a kind of happiness
that was found only there

All around, there were leaves
that the wind kissed
and tossed

All around, there were
trees that made me feel safe
and they were my closest friends

I had hoped for
some place like this
A place to be free

A place with colours
that made my head spin
and my heart sing

There were animals
that chattered with
me as I went

There was a
path there
hidden

Hiding secrets
sharing adventures
leading me down the rabbit hole

A stream gurgled like
a nymph full
of love

I would go there alone at night
and wish I was a sprite too
like one of the creatures there

My mind made things
seem so real in
that forest dear

Where children laughed, creatures
played and elves danced all night
Where I was welcome

It was a fairytale land
A world of imagination
where I was happy most

A place with colours
that made my head spin
and my heart sing

I had hoped for
some place like this
A place to be free

This is the first free verse piece I've ever written and relates to the forest I grew up in.
