What she has left
Is nothing but a single feather
She cant stop looking at it
remembering, despairing.
Seeing her Life played back through a shaking, tear streaked lens
Watching from the outside, from a strangers view
Holding it close, she can almost feel his warmth
She can just make out his goofy smile
She can nearly pretend that he's there
She is almost okay
Until reality breaks her safe enclosure and brings her back to the world he once protected her from
She unleashes a deluge of tears and wails
Unable to cope with the separation from her only Love
Blinking back the tears, she dares another glance
Looking again at the glimmering golden feather resting in her palms
It holds value to her beyond the blood in her veins
She cherishes it more than anything secular or beyond
For with the feather, she was given a promise
One that nothing on this Earth could ever compromise
What she holds in her hands is a promise of his return.
The promise of Love and Life anew
And he wont be just her memories any longer
Shattered she lets it drop from her fingertips as she grabs for Hope
Hope for the honesty of that promise
The sacred promise that was sealed with a kiss
and a clipped angel's wing.
