And I knew this was the end,
As we laid in the darkness and silence of 3am.
I remembered all those nights when we'd look up to the heavens,
Dreamers bound by an unrealistic sense of optimism,
We didn’t care because we made a home in the stars,
if only for a little while
But tonight I could see no stars,
Our home has all but disappeared.
I realized this may very well be the last time I get to see you,
Last time to take in your scent of earth and honey.
The last I love you....
Nothing matters now because In the morning you'll be gone,
and I'll be left behind to mourn the death of us

The author's comments:
My inspiration was a young couple. Whom were in a situation where the male had to go to war, and she is coming to terms with the reality that this may be the last time she will ever see her first love. Often times we lose people and its hard to face it, but I believe it relates to many people in different situations.
