“Stop laughing- it’s obnoxious.”
Ever since then,
I cover my mouth when I laugh.
I hide my smile,
My beautiful smile,
All because you told me to.

5 years ago, I was told to kill myself.
Not once, not twice, but three times.
I don’t know who it was.
I still don’t.
I thought about it.

5 years ago, I was called homophobic,
all because I was proud to be a Christian.
That was their only proof.
Who do you think you were,
To judge someone you never bothered to get to know?

But I’m still here.
And you’re lucky I am.

So next time you feel like tearing someone down,
Just stop.
And think.
About those who were torn down until
there was nothing left except a memory.
