A chance for a Rainbow
It’s cloudy outside
And grey to boot
The ground is soggy and moist
Some people scurry and hide
Others brave the storm
Ripples like sound waves
Traveling far and wide
Then finally dissipating into nothing
The clouds break
The wetness still clinging to the air
Yellows and brilliant gold seeps through
Fighting off the darkness consuming the clouds
With happiness and light
The multicolored spectrum of light
That is a rainbow reveals itself
No longer ensconced behind the fog and mist
Children point and cheer
Adults fumble about for their cameras
To preserve its beauty eternally
Slowly
The spectacular colors fade
The cheering begins to quiet
The crowd starts to thin and disperse
The storm clouds roll back in
And take back their place on the canvas of sky
As children laugh and play
Hoods pulled down past their eyes
Boots yanked up past their knees
Many begin to forget about the rainbow
And its beauty
A spectacle not fit for this world
A spectacle that can only be described as
A gift from the heavens
However
There are some
Who will always see the chance
That the rainbow may come once again
