Morning is a dying heart,
beating to feel pain.
Whatsoever you hope to aspire for,
let the darkness run it through your veins;
cut I open.
Cease a beat by day.
Extricate the mourning heart,
from ever beating again.

The author's comments:
This piece was actually inspired by Eve Merriam's poem "Morning." I admired her indirect metaphor of morning, and decided I'd tackle on something similar myself.
