Together, we are Black.
We have all been absorbed,
For fear of being different.

We have the ability to stand out.
We hide from it. We must blend.
To be different is to be an outsider.

Who wants to be White.
You'll be an outsider,
No, a Whitesider.

Whitesiders are queer. Odd.
You'll shine bright. Offbeat.
Instead of being favored, you're opposed.

You are: Good or Bad.
Right or Wrong.
Devine or Corrupt.

Do you head for the Self Righteous? In the Black?
Or do you head to the Otherwise? In the White?

The author's comments:
This is kind of about bullying and struggling with who you are as an individual. Most people like to be "Mainstream." Black stands for those people because black is the absorption of all light. So it contains everything. But white reflects the light. It "shines." The people in the White are the different ones who break away from the beaten path.
