Deep Sea
There is a place I know
where water crashes with the force of crumbling mountains.
creatures too monstrous to live on land lurk here
waiting to strike.
No trees can provide shade,
the vast expanse offers no place
to take root and grow.
The unforgiving sun beats on
incessantly
oblivious to our puny crises.
Unless, of course, Poseidon sees fit to ravage this place with storms
of mythical proportion - winds to uproot the mightiest oak -
torrents that sear like daggers from a mournful sky;
and it is massive - oh so massive!
For days, a man could drift in this cruel paradise until even Hope -
that eternal feathered thing -
would abandon him and fly to safety.
There is a place I know
A place where I play
And make my home.
