A lovely little lie
Plays upon your lips.
A secret sitting silent
While from it beauty drips.
An empty little promise
Possesses every word.
Laced in small endearments
To keep their truths unheard.
A charming little fib
Lives within your eyes.
With every syllable spoken,
The trust between us dies.
A lovely little lie.
A pleasant little guile.
In your eyes and words and lips,
And woven in your smile.
I’ll never trust those lips,
And I’ll never trust those eyes.
I’ll never trust those words
Laced in lovely little lies.
