The Bird in Its Element
You would think that
I would flap my wings and
That would please me because
Those "gifts" would put me in my place.
My destinations would be limitless and
Watching me soar would make you envious.
"Gosh," you would say,
"I wish I could have that liberty."
Except that like me and my acrophobia,
You too limit yourself in your own element.

As a developing writer, I have kept my distance from poetry; I limited myself in my own element. Or at least I did at one point.
