And me being stupid I believed you again.
I am told that I can do better,
But until I believe that as well,
You are all I have.
Sometimes you make me feel like wood.
Like I am puppet,
And you are puppet master.
You treated me the way that you did,
Because you knew that I would do nothing in return.
Calling me late at night telling me that I was the voice you wanted to go to sleep to.
Took me to restaurants in places you never think of going to,
Afraid your valuables would be stolen, without you even knowing.
Saying theres a light to every dark room.
Made me feel as what we had was special,
And that it was our little secret.
You failed to tell me that we were a secret,
Because you had someone waiting for you at home.
You took me to the most gentrified places,
In the most dangerous spaces,
Because you knew that no one would find you with me there.
Called me late at night because you know that she would be sound asleep
You treated me like a runaway.
Took me through underground railways,
Of old trains knowing that barely anyone uses them now.
We played games like musical chairs,
Switching from car to car,
Saying that you couldn’t stay in one place for too long.
Oh, but lets not forget chutes and ladders.
Those days where we would sit in comfy restaurants,
All of a sudden to be jerked from my seat,
Going up elevators and down flights of stairs.
Told me that it was strange to want to love outside and in public,
Or weird to want to show PDA in front of others.
Said that I was lucky enough to have you,
Because no one would treat me the way you did.
At the time I didn’t know that was a good thing.
I didn’t know that the way you treated me,
Is not the way that someone should be treated.
I know that there is someone out there who loves me better than you ever can.
