Lost You
We both paused
and you looked spectacular,
even sweaty and
breathless as you were,
grin stretched across
your face like a rubber band pushed
to it's limits.
It was so simple
but it hurt,
went through me like a bullet
and left me cold when
I realized it.
I could never have this moment back.
You would never look this way again.
And by the time I figured it out,
i couldn't reach you
fast enough.
You were already running again,
unaware of the loss.
