The Rain
While it pours down I pour my cares away.
It’s the only thing I can feel;
The only thing I want to feel.
It’s hammering down so hard, it could knock in nails; bring down a new building.
It goes on for so long, it could be all the tears to ever touch the floor.
It could be the Atlantic, coming down in tiny droplets,
Ready to wave goodbye to all lying underneath her.
And wash away all the people who were outside in the sun,
Until they’ve all flooded inside to watch it from their window.
All people can say is
“Why the bad weather?”
All I can say is,
Thank you for giving me something to help disguise my tears.
Now everyone wants to go inside,
I can be alone,
In the rain,
And not have to listen to a single voice.
At least the rain can wash away the sadness of today,
Even if it will return tomorrow in the flood,
When the tide comes in.
