Five Days to Ending
Monday

 my pace slows down
 and my eyes peek through
the glass door straight at you.
 The ring of the bell
 fills the hallway
 and the image of your
 fluorescent yellow shirt
 contrasting with the
 lime green walls
 starts to fade away.

 Tuesday
 Everything is the same:
 lime green walls,
 squeaky clean windows,
abstract art covering the far end.
 But then...
your lips tug into a smile
 and everything changes
 in one instant.

 Wednesday
 I find us together,
our laughs echoing across the room,
as eyes peer through the window
 filled with curiosity,
the same way mine once did.
 The walls are now
 splashed with water
 and the art is no
 longer a foreigner.

 Thursday
 the queer looks
 are replaced with smirks
 and the calmness fades away
 from the walls.
 With each ‘tick’,
 the piercing red walls
 haunt your absence,
 closing in by the second.

 Friday
 the windows disappear,
 and the white washed walls
 suffocate my lungs.
 Each short breath
 spells out your name,
 writes down the unsaid
 and illustrates the emotions
 swarming through my head.
