Just Fantasies
It’s hard not to laugh
As I watch her petite
Frame smothered by
The leather
Of the couch
She finds a feather
And tickles her arm
Her hairs stand tall all together
The weather outside is
Ugly.
So she grabs a cassette
And shoves it in the television
Set
She sits and watches
Eyes plastered to the screen
I bet
She has seen this movie more times
Than she can count on her little
Pink fingers.
Yet engagingly she sits.
The droplets
Stick to the window
Slide down little by little
She looks over and tries to count
The drops of water
And decides the amount
Is too high to bother
I bet she has seen this movie
A hundred times:
*A beautiful princess stuck in her castle*
She sinks further into the couch.
*Saved by the prince*
She suffocates.
*Happily ever after*
The rain keeps pouring down the window
She wants to get out
She throws her little arms up
And cries
"Where’s my prince?"
I insist
It’s hard not to laugh
But I resist
Because that was me
But now I know that those movies
Aren’t real
They are just make believe
They are just fantasies.
