To love is to be vulnerable; Triumph is born out of struggle; We notice shadows most when they stand alone in the midst of overwhelming light.

My eyes were closed,
as I laid in my ashes.
A darkness took over me,
little by little,
and put a spell on me.

So for many years,
I slept in a grave;
believing
that I was dead.
I slept in this numbing,
continual winter;
so cold I was.

When suddenly,
a light
entered into my
restless, dark world.
The light rekindled
a fire
in my ashes;

my soul on fire.
And as light
sparked
something
in my soul,
I opened
my eyes,
and looked around.

My world
alight
now.
I had awoken
from my
long, enchanted sleep.

So many of us are sleeping. You may go ahead, and say that's weird or stupid or that this sounds rather like a fairy-tale, but I find it true that so many of us, the real us, are sleeping. Wake up from your long, sleep. Like in the one of the band Evanescence song's said, "Wake me up inside." Someone need to wake you up inside. Your slumbering hearts and spirits and you, are asleep.

Love love this concept. Many of us ARE sleeping, and it's time for us to wake up. There's a difference between just living and actually being alive. Beautiful poem.
