I used to be dead,
but then
at a time
I came alive.

I used to
be lit by darkness,
but now
I'm lit
by light.

I used to be
a shadow
on a wall,
but now. . .
I'm a child of light.

I no longer,
have to think
about the time
when I
shook hands
with the dark.

I am
a child of light,
not
a child of darkness.

The author's comments:
I was thinking about how we're dead, even though we all say we're alive. We are alive in the outside, but what about the inside? Are you alive in the inside? We need to be lit with light inside us, instead of darkness. You're a child of light.
