Red and the Fire Clan
When I opened my eyes, all I saw was the back of my eyelids
darkness was swallowing me whole
but I knuckle punched the esophagus and came out spewing.
The light was worse
it ate away my insides like the insects once did
but there was no creeping warning, just pain.
A tree (salvation)
My bones shattered as my nose searched for what I needed
there, to the right of the fourth gravestone
a school of black clad cattle crying
crying?
Teeth ripped from my gums like a baby pulled away mid sucking
light speed was an old grandma driving compared to the way I raced
through the liquid fire
hand clamoring for...for what my gums demanded
a fleshy neck danced it’s way to my pearl white razors
The fire clan taken residence in my throat was beaten back by red
Red
Red
Red
Bliss broken by a new pain in my ears
this howl to be vanished like the other
I drop the precious packaged I carried
A family
...
An empty baby carriage
...
A fleeting thought
there was more red to be sought.
