To Be Like You
I wish I knew how the armor around you never seems to shatter in the rain
I wish I knew how to make a perfect carbon copy of your smile and plaster it on my face
and claim it as my own because mine doesn’t seem right
You’re the one that seems to shine light on the darkest roads and
Make it seem okay.
I wish I knew how your mind has encased itself in a filter
Letting in the good,
But blocking out the black poison in the world that threatens to invade every corner of my mind
I wish I had those strings of melodies that play the beat of your heart and
I’d never change the beat of the song.
I wish I held the future like a golden prize on a pedestal in my hands and drank in every second of life like it was the last drop of water in the world.
I wish I could see dreams and hopes instead of nightmares.
I wish I could light up the world like you always seem to do.
