My heart
was once
impregnated with
concentrated love.
Then melancholy punctured it.
I waited for a savior
to darn my Lamprocapnos
spectabilis, but
He never came.
Now, depleted of ardor,
I burrow into a potpourri satchet,
hoping that someone will adore
the bittersweet redolence
of my withered remains.

The author's comments:
Corpus flori is Latin for "the body of the flower." Lamprocapnos spectabilis is the scientific name for bleeding heart flowers.
