How is it freedom
When we haven’t made a single choice for ourselves
How is it freedom
When every tiny aspect of our lives are chosen by our parents
Being forced to go to a place that no one likes
so early your head is a ten ton brick on your pillow
and it takes every ounce of strength that you have left from the last day just to get up
Your head drops lower and lower as you walk from class to class
When the only thing heavier then your backpack are your eyelids
and the only way to pass every day with an acceptable grade
is to be up all night studying and working
then to be expected to get up only a few hours later
When kids would rather die then come to school
When their minds can’t cope and the pressure is too much
this is normal, this is average
but you must be better then average
average won’t get you into an ivy league college
average won’t pay your bills
average won’t prepare you for “real life”
as if the first 18 years aren’t real, just a “trial”
But if they are just a “trial”
Then why can’t we make our own decisions
Why can’t we make our own life instead of our parents living their dreams through us
Why can’t we have our freedom back
