Anxiety fills me
as I sprint to the car.
I put my earbuds in
ignoring my surroundings
and listen.

“Are we almost there yet?”
This 2 hour drive is killing me.

The highway was like the ocean.
Billions of fish
trying to all get to one destination
at the same time
in the same direction.

***
The walk to the stadium
takes what feels like
hours.

The entrance doors
are packed
and I hear
the opening act,
my heart beating with the drums.

Hand in hand,
my best friend and I await
in our seats.

“This is once in a lifetime.”
She looks over to me.

***
5 perfect bodies
appear through the fog and lights
The drums turn on
and start in a fast beat
The piano jumps in seconds later
along with the rest of the band.

Microphones raise to their mouths
while all of the teenage girls
let out an ear-splitting scream.

The five flawless figures stand there
and amaze me.
4 years i’ve been waiting for this
and I still can’t process the beauty in front of me.

Once the last song plays,
I cry, because I know
I will have to depart in a mere 2 minutes.

As the music slows
and the stage empties,
flashlights turn off
and the stadium turns bare.

All that is left for me now,
is heartache.
