Cycles
Is when you’re a few days in
and you’re not quite used to the feeling;
emptiness
it consumes you
angst fills the gaps between your legs
sticking to your thighs like leeches
the rattle between your bones
playing pinball against your ribcage
You want to feel empty again
Iron apprehension washes over you, bitter
Release
Is the black hole
that you don’t know you fallen into
You don’t realize how dark it is
until you slip and fall on that edges of
words you thought you’d forgotten
Emptiness
Hits you like a mack truck
but you don’t want to peel yourself off the road
All of the fat
jokes hissed in your direction
mocking you
crawling up your leg like
snakes sinking their teeth into your thighs
the hate running through your veins
Reality
They’ve won again.

This piece describes the endless cycles I went through during the first two years of my high school career, and still struggle with today.
