The aftermath
The kind of girl who stares at a screen
  Singing under her breath
Waiting for the page to change
Because she knows it never ends
  Once upon a time
In a world of too many colors
  With taint in each one
  The girl was swallowed whole
  The belly was grey
  And slowly turned black
  Alone in the darkness
  Hiding in the cracks
  Of society
  That gave her anxiety
  Too much variety
Always too short to stand almighty
  She knew she was loved
In this world that had beat her up
  But here in the beast
She felt as if she had, had enough
  Until a sword struck it
  Right in the heart
  And she climbed out
  To see her heroes
  The trip home seemed effortless
As if he had done it before
And he smiled as she saw her parents
And was gone after they closed the door
From that day on she learned
We are all strong in our own way
  Sometimes we need our heroes
  To help dig our path
  And light the way
