Vacation
It was sweltering. Painfully hot.
My hair was sticking to my scalp.
Sweat dripped down the back of my neck.
It was too hot to go anywhere, do anything,
but there was one place to go, and that place was the cabin.
We hopped in the car and sped off.
I stuck my head out the window and felt the cool, refreshing breeze
against my face.
When we arrived, I saw the glistening water
and its blue waves.
I dove off the dock,
sending a cool sensation, a much desired sensation
across my blazing hot skin.
The water was so cool.
It seemed only a few minutes
of that refreshing feeling
until time was up.
The heat had melted away.
