This ruthless wind has dried me out.
I sit by the fireplace
mittens off
hoping to warm my blood.
My toes ache from the ice
that falls in sheets from trees
and I wiggle them under the quiet water of the bath.
Please don’t give me lukewarm tea.
I like it scalding.
Push me away
when I run to you
crying for my burnt tongue.
