White Lies
The house groans and breaks
under the weight of the whistling winter winds
The frigid air begs the bitter souls inside the house
to surrender to the snowy solstice that awaits them outside
Oblivious to the cold the family can only feel
the heat of their angry words
As they use their frozen hearts to burn one another
With every shout and tear
the house breaks under their storm
Warm feelings cannot grow when entrapped by raging ice
But the sun can spark a change
the family can flourish
Once the blinding light of forgiveness melts the pain
and the season change repairs the house
into a home
