All That's Left
She is hard lines
and brittle smiles;
Fragile heart
And face of stone.
She is shadow-
Dark and intangible,
Chased away by Light.
She is the quiet
Before the thunder booms;
The charge left behind
By a rouge lightning strike.
She is the bite of arctic wind,
A sheen of frost;
The twilight fringe of night.
She is everything
I'd hope to be,
But she is now watered down
With apathy.
And I am afraid that
Hard lines and brittle smiles,
Will be all that's eventually left of me.
