The Teacher
stutter behind a mask,
Hiding from myself.
In a dark room, I cower.
I stutter behind a mask,
Hiding from myself.
Not accepting the person,
I am.
I stutter behind a mask,
As I try to perform.
But I can’t move freely,
From behind the mask
I stutter behind a mask,
Hiding from myself,
As I wish to myself
To be myself.
That is my deepest plea.
I stutter behind a mask,
Hiding from myself,
But I no longer need a mask.
A teacher has helped
Enough to let me take it off.
And I can be myself.
My teacher has helped me be myself.
I have taken off the mask.
