Farthest from heaven, closest to home.
I keep wanting to tell myself that
these thoughts in my head aren’t
real but they capture what I see in
  my worst nightmares.
  Awoken drenched in sweat,
my worst fears appear behind my
eyelids. Afraid to close my eyes,
afraid I’ll fall into your once
loving arms, only to be bruised
  and torn up once again.

I’ve been fighting the same old war,
I’ve been holding onto this hope,
as my universe falls apart. I’ll never
close my eyes. Not until you’re gone.
