Blood like Summer Rain
I kissed you so hard your lip bled
In the back of your mom's old minivan
And I didn't love you;
No, I didn't even taste you
Until that blood reached my trembling tongue
And I cried later that night,
For the smell of blood had always reminded me of him
I can't scrape my knee or get a bloody nose
Without you rushing to my head
And though our nights were spent in ice-cold winter,
My thoughts of you and blood pour on like summer rain
