It's Winter
  Black cars turning white
  Gray clouds blanketing the sky
  Green grass vanishing under snow
  I think it’s winter
Bare trees swaying with the wind
Ski racks with skis on cars
Candles bringing light to the darkness
  I think it’s winter
New shovels sitting in the garage
A Christmas tree colorfully lit up
Bulky jackets filling clothing racks in stores
  I think it’s winter
  A man opens his door
  To see his son
  Grown up after college
  Home for the holidays
Hot chocolate in the shop window
Thick gloves insulating a woman’s hands
A blazing fire in the living room
  It’s winter

I looked out the window and saw snow lightly falling. I thought, why not write a poem? Nearly all of the lines are things that I saw around me while writing this poem. I feel that a poem is best when it speaks about something that's happened in the past.
