My Old Man
When I was born, I was a quiet baby
My mom thought I was dead, but I wasn't
I just didn't have anything to say
Like my Old Man
When I was a boy, I was adventurous
I tried to find the biggest thrills a boy could get
I wrestled a bear, I climbed a mountain, and I survived on my own
I became one with the land,
Like my Old Man
When I grew into a strong man
I contracted the curse of the bottle
Liquor was part of me
And it wouldn't let me get away
Beer, whisky, vodka, all of them became my soul
Like my Old Man
I became the biggest drunk in the west,
I would drown out my headaches with a Budweiser
And I would enter a violent rage
My fury would grow in the presence of my father
He ripped the bottle from my hand
I pulled out my revolver
And I shot my Old Man
