Paralyzed
I meander down a leafed path through the bare, thick trees that are warped together
I linger underneath one in the darkness and ponder the sky through the interstices of the branches
The universe we live in is an enigma; it’s hypermagical
God flung the stars up into the Heavens and created eddies of galaxies
I awake from my reverie and continue my jaunt through the tunnel of shrubs
I gaze at the celestial lights as I carelessly stroll, but a patch of briars ensnare my pant leg and pierce me like a razor blade
Disentangling myself from the claws of the monster, I stumble upon a bed of Queen's Anne's lace
The dewed flowers are more delicate than porcelain and cringe as I caress their heads
As I edge my way towards the opening of the clearing, I spot a full moon shining over my head
I hear the yawp of an owl, feel the blustering, brisk wind on my face, smell a waft of sweet honeysuckle, and taste the dampness of a rain to come
I scan across the horizon at the majestic, jagged, and archaic mountains
Even the great Michelangelo couldn’t make statues as magnificent as these
I study the hushed dell and fixate upon a friend
A bony, wide-eyed raccoon gives me a cordial smile that welcomes me to his home
He whispers greetings to me underneath his breath
Then like a flash of lightning, the masquerader absconds to his chamber out of sight like a bandit
I blink my eyes and wonder if I even saw him there at all
Out of nowhere rain plunges to the ground, and the wind whistles a familiar tune
A flicker of golden light wriggles across the sky and is accompanied by an utter of thunder that shutters the earth
The wind mutters something again that I can’t quite catch
The trees, firm and motionless, don’t falter from the howling, surging, fierce gales
I gape up at the welkin overwhelmed
Everything around me is like a hieroglyphic; it’s hard to figure out
Everything around me is unimaginable
Everything around me is glorious
Everything around me is made by a meticulous God
Here I stand, paralyzed with the beauty the engulfs me

I love using imagery and descriptive words in poems, and I had this vivid picture that I wanted to make readers visualize. I wanted readers to be in awe at the nature that surrounds them. I wanted readers to realize the beauty that God surrounds us with. I wanted readers to see God in nature.
