Not So Silent Night

In the chillest solitary silence of the fleeting evening, night begins to transpire

A sea of stars sprout in bulk, coaxing the dark sky into a blanket of fire
My eyes roam in awe, agonized with the inability to reach
Up towards the complex greatness which my eyes grasp like a leech

A less than cordial gale swoops down upon me, faster than a thousand coursers
Like a yawp aimed to the stars, directing them like a swarm of enforcers
The stormy restless night, overwhelming me like a frigate
Shrinking me to the size of an underdeveloped midget 

My eyelids slowly closing as my eyes remain restless underneath
The night, to tomorrow’s version of myself, I bequeath
