Where I'm From

I’m from where snow and heat collide season after season,
Where a house of five barely stands to hold,
And from the seclusion following our families.

I’m from the overstayed nights that plague the weekends,
Where no one’s around in the pitch black,
And from the afternoons that drag seconds into minutes.

I’m from the schools that couldn’t understand each other,
Where hate growls towards me,
And from the happiness that sprouted into others.

I was formed from the government of grades,
Where A’s gained respect of the family,
From the others that took my life away.

I was formed by the principles of brotherhood,
Where fights after fights ensued,
From the false actions of one meant bloodshed.

I was formed by personal values,
Where I am the least important,
From those who suffer more than me.
