Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
A.A. Milne

If you close your eyes and count to three,
when you open them up what do you see?
Do you see a world of happiness and cheer,
or do you see a world of hate, so crisp and clear?

The world constantly tells you to be unique,
but when you are yourself, you are called a freak.
You never thought you would be in a such a hateful place,
growing up it seemed life was full of grace.
Now you simply wish that things would change,
but the thought of happiness seems almost strange.

I know I’m not the only one who believes this of life,
many people have picked up the theoretical knife.
Being stuck in this place takes it toll,
destroying your mind, your body, your soul.
If we could go back to the day the comments were embedded into our head,
we would all ignore each and every word they said.
We would forget being called names such as fat, nerdy and weird,
because once you heard those words, the voices never disappeared.
You glance at the mirror and hate what you are looking at,
You see other girls and think, “Now why can’t I be that?”
We live in a time where they say to love yourself,
and to destroy your insecurities, not box them on the shelf.

Advice like this is easier said than done,
just ask someone who is hurting, ask anyone.
We all have fears, insecurities and hate,
but the way we treat each other only adds to the sadness they create.
We must look around and see what our actions do
because we are causing people pain, and have no clue.

Its time for society to destroy the idea of labels,
time for us to realize the thoughts our words enable.
Too many people are living lives full of pain,
something must happen so we can quit adding to the chain.
We are setting the example for future generations,
so lets change our rhythm, and start sending positive vibrations.

If someday your children close their eyes and count to three,
when they open them up what do you want them to see?
Do you want them to see our world of hate, so crisp and clear,
or do you want them see a world of happiness and cheer?
