You see her everyday
She smiles
She laughs
She acts happy
Just like anyone would

She doesn’t want you to know
She gets bullied
Then goes home
To be met with more abuse

She doesn’t want you to know
That she gets called fat
So she skips all her meals

She doesn’t want you to know
That she cuts herself
And hides the scars
Carved from depression

But at the same time
She wants you to ask
So
So bad
Why?

Is there something wrong?
Why are you sad?
Are those scars?
Why are you so quiet?
Can’t you make it stop?

And its killing her
Slowly
From the inside and out
Trying to kill the demon
Without killing herself.

And theres more like her
She not alone
She will never be alone

But she doesn’t know that.

Just smiling takes so much
But she can do it
And if she can do it
She can do more

She is beautiful,
She is powerful,
She may not realize it,
But she is.

If she wanted to
She could look truly happy
If she wanted to
She could be truly happy

But why?
When she could just flash her smile,
And it would work just the same

Because you wouldn’t notice

You only see her smile
