The poor mother stands here, eyes closed, quietly revolving.
There seems to be no one around for miles.
She opens her eyes and feels only regret.
How could her children cause her such pain?
She had no reason left to hope.

Her children had drank the sweet water she offered them.
She had protected them with all she had.
She had brightened up even the saddest of days
And cooled them down when they came home hotheaded and angry.
She had no reason left to hope.

Several days, months, and years had passed
Since the first signs of abuse had begun.
But now, when she needed them most,
Her children failed to even look after her.
She had no reason left to hope.

The oceans of sadness stretched endlessly.
Her blood seemed to always be boiling now.
The children threw things at her every chance they got;
The insults piled up so high that she could no longer see the sun.
She had no reason left to hope.

Without her, her children wouldn't live on this earth.
The world as they know it would not exist.
And yet, as a reward for all her hard work,
All she received in return was pain and carelessness.
She had no reason left to hope.

Finally, her pleas reached the ears of a few, kind souls.
Awareness grew by the minute, until, one day,
The children all came together, one big family reunion.
They worked together for a better, brighter, and green future.
The children always have and always will love their Mother Earth.

This poem may seem to be about a mother lamenting the loss of her children, but it actually has a double meaning; it also serves to educate the public about global warning and other ongoing environmental problems.
