A Meeting With Death
In the end it’s just you and me.
Sitting and staring so quietly.
Face to face with Death.
As I inhale and exhale he watches my every breath.
“You ready kid? I don’t think you are”
I look up at the sky and there isn't a single star.
No beauty in the sky but right in front of me.
As he sits and watches oh so patiently.
I look down at wrist all covered in scars.
And I wonder if I can trace the stars.
Find every constellation in the sky.
And smile one last time just before I die.
But when I look up at Death he smiles.
Then I get this feeling I haven’t felt in a while.
Such beauty it’s just hard to understand.
How anyone would want to die at my hand.
I trace his cheek as he traces mine.
“I’m not ready quite yet but I’ll see you next time”
