a thousand shades of fall
she was born within galaxies—
the stars’ gentle reminder of our need for a princess.
her dresses are made of cellophane roses,
where petals are plucked
to make all sorts of marmalade wishes.
her smile paints monochrome rainbows
in purple skies among these pressed constellations.
dark hair fades into the colors
of a burning sunset,
but she doesn’t believe in her beauty—
the wind-kissed skin,
sweet profile
and moon-sculpted body.
i wish autumn leaves could touch her
and tell her how lovely
november’s painting really is.
