The Sky's Eyes

The sky peers down
through clear eyes
changing from white to gray to blue
lit up with the sun
stars sparkling within inky pupils
the sky sees the people
pain surrounds them spheres
filling their lungs like smoke
choking them with grief
things explode on the 5th of July
grass grows red and wet from the ground
they scream for Heaven to open up and rain back down
they beg for it to send back their hearts
the sky cries, unblinking
a tear is dragged down by gravity
it rains onto the people
storming and churning the seas
