Night
The darkness waits to take me
At ten it erases all traces of light
lt creeps up to the side of my bed
l feel it’s light tap on my shoulder
My back is turned to it
Maybe if l don’t look into it
lt will go away
l open my eyes
Just to feel as if they are still closed
The darkness swallows my eyes
l feel it covering me like a blanket
Going over me slowly
Taking as much time as it wants
l squeexe my eyes shut
l press them so close they hurt
l open them to darkness
But this time pink shapes dance
l close my eyes once again and l see them
They are still dancing, on my eyelid
Soon the darkness steals those shapes from me
All light and color are gone
l never know when my eyes are open
Or if they ever close
lt feels the same
l don’t know
All l know is the darkness has taken over
