What a truly supple,
and strange organ the heart is.
That it may drop to your stomach,
as you shiver with fear.
Or it may pound as the only sound in your ears.

Or may turn to stone,
where cruelty may dwell.
Or, when in love,
may melt like warm caramel.
That it may ache,
and make all your body feel pain.
Or may swell when you see joy again.

But all our hearts are emotions,
may be what makes us sane.
For our hearts, or emotions,
never make us boring,
or the same.

This is just something I threw together for fun. It plays with all the American metaphors that can be heard about the heart.
