"Happiness is a journey not a destination"

As she stares at the mask in her hands, she thinks,
She wanted to blossom
And come out of that shell she had been hiding in for the last few years. She wanted to so bad but didn't want to make a scene.
She wanted to be herself
And dress like she wanted to but didn't want to be judged
She wanted to read a book while everyone else was playing.
And when she wasn't reading she wanted to write something.
She wanted to become an author while others wanted to become veterinarians and astronauts.
She wanted to so bad but it would be so hard to stay hidden.
So she the mask on her face and walked out the door to play with her friends.

The author's comments:

Too many tmes people don't act the way they really are. They hide who they truly are by the "Mask of Society" of which is hiding their identity. The unique ones who tend to be different, try to take the mask off, but are then judged. After that they are pulled back into the fake life of society and put the "Mask of Society" back on their face and act like nothing happened and they are magically  the same as everyone else.
